Biography
Tom Etter is the President and CEO of ETTER Engineering, a leading company in the combustion and process heating industries. Born and raised in Hamden, Connecticut, Tom attended the University of Hartford, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1984.
After graduation, Tom began his career in the combustion industry, working as an R&D Engineer at Textron. In 1992, he joined his family’s business, ETTER Engineering, to become the third generation involved in the company founded by his grandfather, Herb Etter Sr., in 1940. Tom worked closely with his father, Herb Etter Jr., to further expand the company’s capabilities and oversee key aspects of its operations.
In 1999, Tom took over as President of the company, following his father’s decision to step down. Under his leadership, ETTER Engineering has expanded and experienced significant growth, solidifying its position as a national leader in the combustion and process heating industries.
Outside of his professional work, Tom enjoys spending time with his family and is passionate about skiing, sailing, boating, and traveling.
